Purchasing Real Estate

The purchase of real estate is one of the most important transactions a person will ever make. The first step is picking out the area on which to focus your search.

When considering neighborhoods, it is important to:

  • Learn about the schools in the area

  • Consider your cummute time to work.  Note convenience & access to things like, the library, schools, grocery stores and retail stores.
  • Make sure to locate the closest fire station as this can effect Homeowners Insurance.

Resources for Buyers

A real estate agent is there to help you navigate the real estate industry.  Inform your agent of the important criteria for finding your dream home.  While the internet allows you view pictures of homes, you must have an agent to tour the homes.

Financing is critical when buying a home.  If possible, obtain pre-approval for a mortgage before looking seriously at homes.  Pre-approval means you have been fully screened by the lender, and you have been approved for a loan.  This will make you an attractive candidate when it comes time for you and your agent to make an offer on a home.  Most sellers prefer buyers with pre-approval as it reduces the risk of a deals falling through because of financing.

Real Estate Agents

Your real estate agent will guide you through the negotiation of the sale price and making your offer.  The home buying process can be long and involved, but your agent skilled and there to work for you!
